Intrauterine Device

Years of non-stop protection from pregnancy

The IUD (intra-uterine device) is a small, plastic device that protects against pregnancy. It’s inserted into your uterus and remains there to prevent sperm from reaching the egg.

Go to a nurse or doctor to have it inserted. ft only takes a few minutes. Then return for regular checkups.

The IUD is long-lasting. Once inserted it lasts for five years. Easy. You don’t have to do anything once you have it inserted.

For some women, their periods get heavier or they have cramping and backaches. But many women adjust to the IUD quickly.

REMEMBER, only condoms protect you from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
